Glad I Went

Pretty bummed all week. As support group time drew nearer, apathy was threatening to win out, even though lack of opportunity to fully express myself was a principle reason for the apathy. Notes from Shandy and Petra made me realize that I need to take advantage of the opportunites that are presented to me. That wasn't specifically what they said, but the thoughts they inspired.

My Leslie persona is not going away, so I'd better take care of her needs. Friday night, as I went through the motions of choosing clothes for the meeting, I started to feel a spark forming. I stayed up very late, got my wig combed out nicely, bleached my arm hair, and loaded my car's trunk. There's a lot of frontloading to make this gal look good.

Saturday night's meeting was nice. I felt like I looked my best, well worth the time and effort. I was starving, and 90% of the meeting was very business-related. Almost no time left over for socializing. Yet, Tina managed to twist my arm for some photos. I love that girl! I'll share a pic or two tomorrow. Got some nice hugs from my favorite people. In other words, I made a good decision to get off my duff and go. And a fine looking duff it was.

  1. I'm glad you went and had a good time. It's amazing how apathy and laziness can take over. I've beaten it many times, and I can say that most of those times I was very glad I did. :)

  3. I know exactly what you're talking about. Sometimes it just gets depressing that being a girl has to be such a major undertaking. We see the GG's walking around looking great with little or no effort and it's demoralizing. At least that's the way we feel until we do what you did...got off our duffs and did what had to be done to be who we really like to be...lol. I'm glad you went too. Sounds like you girls just need to plan a totally social event...no business...leave that for the men. :)Suzi

  4. So glad you decided to come Leslie. For someone having a hard time getting motivated to prepare, you did a great job. I think it was your best makeup and hair look ever. Just lovely.

  6. I'm glad you took care of YOU. And I'm glad that I can get here a little late only to see that you are loved and cared for by others who post to tell you the same!

  7. Good for you! I knew from your recent posts that you needed this time for yourself. How often are your meetings? Ours are monthly, and that's a very long time between outings. Some of our members get together at a local bar twice a week. I've only made one of those, but I think I should start making it at least once a week on a regular basis. We all need to get out and be ourselves as often as we can, to keep the demons at bay. I was worried about you. I'm so happy you had a good time!

  8. Like Sally Field said, "You like me! You really like me!"

You ladies are aces with me. I am perpetually surprised at the level of commitment and attachment we virtual strangers have created, but I never regret it. Thanks for all the good thoughts.

Melissa, it's a monthly meeting, and no, it's not enough. We also have a monthly social outing, but working weekday evenings takes me out of the mix. Plus, nowhere to change out and about, and the wife would have serious comfort challenges.

    Love y'all!
